Manage passwords

Passwords are required to secure access to sensitive information in the system. Both admin users and public registration users must follow strict password rules in compliance with PCI Security Standards Council guidelines.

To protect user data such as contact details, passport numbers, travel plans, and payment information, Launchpad enforces strong password policies for all users. This ensures both system integrity and individual privacy.


Event admin user password requirements

Passwords for admin users must follow these rules:

  • Passwords are case-sensitive

  • Passwords must be at least 8 characters long and include at least two of the following: letters, numbers, or special characters

  • Passwords must be changed every 3 months

  • A warning message appears 14 days before password expiration:
    "Your password will expire in x days. You can change your password at any time by going to Edit Preferences and clicking on the Update Password tab."

  • Users cannot reuse any of their last 4 passwords

  • Passwords cannot match the user’s email address

If an incorrect email or password is entered, the following message appears:
"Authentication failed"

Forgotten passwords

Admin users must click the Forgot Password? link to request a reset email. The link is valid for 24 hours.

Locked accounts

Admin users have 5 attempts to log in. After the fifth failed attempt, the account is locked.
To regain access, another admin must reset the account. Once reset, the user can log in with their email and the new password.


Public registration password requirements

Password rules for public users mirror those for admin users:

  • Passwords are case-sensitive

  • Passwords must be at least 8 characters long and include at least two of the following: letters, numbers, or special characters

  • Users cannot reuse any of their last 4 passwords

  • Passwords cannot match the user’s email address

If an incorrect email or password is entered, the following message appears:
"Authentication failed"

Forgotten passwords

Public users must click the Forgot Password? link to receive a reset email. The link is valid for 24 hours.

Login attempts

Public users have unlimited login attempts.
