When a participant starts registering but doesn't finish, whether their session timed out or they simply walked away, Launchpad automatically captures and preserves their data. The Abandoned Registration feature gives organizers full visibility into who dropped off, the tools to re-engage them, and the controls to clean up incomplete records when needed.
How does abandoned registration work?
When a registration session expires mid-flow, Launchpad:
Preserves the data the participant had already entered.
Sends an automatic notification to the participant with options to resume or restart their registration.
Adds the record to the Abandoned Registrations report, visible only to organizers.
Abandoned records are kept entirely separate from confirmed attendee data — they are excluded from all standard reports, list views, the Full Data Export, registration APIs, and XML feeds, so they will never inflate your confirmed attendee counts.
Organizer reports
Two dedicated reports give you visibility into incomplete registrations:
Abandoned Registrations report
Shows every participant who started but did not complete registration. For each record, you can see:
The last page completed before they dropped off
Attendee type and package selected
The date the registration was abandoned
To access it, go to Registration > Reports > Abandoned Registrations.
In Progress Registrations report
Shows registrations with active sessions that have not yet expired. Use this report to monitor live drop-off risk before records move to the Abandoned state.
To access it, go to Registration > Reports > In Progress Registrations.
How to re-engage participants
From an individual record
Open the abandoned registration record from the Abandoned Registrations report.
Review the full record details.
Choose one of the following actions:
Complete on their behalf — finish the registration directly in the admin.
Send a personalized recovery link — email the participant a unique link so they can complete it themselves.
Bulk actions
From the Abandoned Registrations report, select multiple records and choose from the following bulk actions:
Send recovery emails — trigger the built-in "Complete your registration" email to all selected participants at once.
Complete registrations — complete selected registrations on participants' behalf directly in the admin.
Delete records — permanently remove selected records. Each bulk action includes a confirmation step.
Each bulk action triggers a confirmation step before any changes are applied.
Customize the recovery email
The built-in "Complete your registration" email can be customized before sending. You can edit the:
Email subject line
Email body text
Call-to-action button label
Participant experience
Resume or start fresh
When a participant returns after an abandoned session, they can enter their email address and choose:
Resume — receive a one-time code and pick up where they left off.
Start fresh — discard the abandoned record and begin a new registration from scratch.
Data control
The abandoned registration notification email includes a dedicated deletion link. Participants can use it at any time to permanently remove their incomplete record without needing to contact the organizer.
Data retention and auto-purge
Abandoned records are not kept indefinitely. Launchpad automatically manages their lifecycle:
Records are automatically deleted after 90 days.
A notification email is sent to the participant 7 days before deletion.
Auto-purge ensures that personal data is not retained indefinitely, keeping your event data compliant and clean.
Data isolation
Abandoned registrations are fully isolated from your confirmed attendee data. They are excluded from:
All standard registration reports
List views
The Full Data Export
Registration APIs
XML feeds
Only the dedicated Abandoned Registrations and In Progress Registrations reports surface this data.
The Abandoned Registration feature ensures that no potential attendee slips through the cracks, while keeping your confirmed registration data accurate and uncluttered.
