Manage Industry Categories for Registrants

Control and standardize registrant data by adding, editing, ordering, and deleting industry categories that appear as options on public registration forms.

Allowing registrants to select an industry helps you gather standardized data about their professional background. By maintaining a clean, updated industry list in Launchpad, you ensure consistency across registrations, reduce errors from free‑text entry, and make reporting easier. The steps below cover how to manage this list effectively.


How to access the Industries list

  1. Go to the Event Setup menu.

  2. Click on General.

  3. Click on Industries.

  4. The Manage Industries page will appear, displaying the current list and available actions:

    • Add an industry

    • Edit an industry

    • Set display order

    • Delete an industry

Add a new Industry

  1. Click Add Industry from the Actions dropdown.

  2. Fill in the required fields:

    • Industry: enter the name of the industry (e.g. “Information Technology”)

    • Visible to Public: check this box if you want the industry option to appear on public registration pages (leave unchecked if it’s for internal/admin use only)

  3. Click Add to save the new industry.

Edit an existing Industry

  1. Next to the industry you want to change, click the Edit icon.

  2. On the Edit Industry screen, update the industry name or visibility setting as needed.

  3. Click Save to apply your changes.

Set the display order of Industries

  1. Select Set Display Order Industry from the Actions dropdown.

  2. On the reorder screen, use your mouse to drag and drop industries into the desired order.

  3. Click Save to confirm the new order.

This determines the order in which industry options appear in dropdown menus.

Delete an Industry

⚠️ If any registrant currently uses an industry you plan to delete, you must first edit their profile and assign a different industry. Otherwise deletion may fail or cause data inconsistencies.

  1. Click the Delete icon next to the industry to remove.

  2. Confirm deletion in the dialog that appears by clicking OK.

If the deleted industry was in use, be sure to update affected registrant profiles first.


Keeping the industry list up to date in Launchpad helps ensure clean, consistent data collection and improves the registration experience for attendees. By controlling which industries appear on registration forms — and the order they are listed — you can tailor the form to your event’s audience, improve data accuracy, and make post‑event reporting easier.
