Manually creating questions or entering responses for hundreds of registrants can be a significant administrative burden. By using the import tools in Launchpad, you can set up complex forms and populate attendee profiles with preferences, qualifications, or workshop selections in minutes. This process ensures data consistency across your event and provides the high-quality insights needed for effective reporting and logistics.
How do I import new registration questions?
If you have a long list of custom questions to add to your registration form, you can upload the questions themselves before collecting any responses.
Accessing the question import tool
Open the Event Setup menu.
Once here, click Registration.
Click Registration Additional Questions.
Select Import Additional Questions from the Actions dropdown menu.
Preparing the question template
Click Download Registration Additional Questions Template and open the file.
Label: Type the question prompt as it should appear to users.
Format: Enter the response type (e.g., Textbox, Dropdown, Checkboxes).
Question ID: Provide a unique code for the question.
Save the file as a CSV, then click Browse to select it and click Save to upload.
Formatting sessions and promo codes
Promo Codes: Use consistent naming like "Promo Code 1" and "Promo Code 2." Do not mix generic "Promo Code" headers with numbered ones in the same file.
Workshops and Sessions: Use headers labeled Session 1, Session 2, etc. The system matches by Session Title first, then by Session Number.
Auxiliary Events: Use Aux Event 1 for ungrouped items. For grouped events, use the header Grouped Aux Event: XYZ (replace XYZ with the exact group name).
How do I import responses to these questions?
Once your questions exist in the system, you can bulk-load the answers for your registrants using the response import tool.
Preparing the response data
Column naming: Use headers that match the Question Label or Question ID exactly (case-sensitive).
Multiple choice: For checkbox questions, separate multiple answers with a semicolon (;).
Predefined values: Ensure your data matches the options already configured in the system.
Sessions and Events: Use Session 1, 2, etc. for workshops and Aux Event 1, 2, etc. for auxiliary activities.
Uploading the responses
Open the Event Setup menu.
Navigate to Registration and then Registration Additional Questions.
Select Import Additional Question Responses from the Actions menu.
Download the Registration Additional Question Responses Template.
Fill in the Value, Write In Required (yes/no), and Answer Code.
Save as a CSV, click Browse to select your file, and click Save.
After any import, the system generates a summary to help you verify that your data mapped correctly.
The Summary section shows the total count of successful and failed records.
All Import Rows: Provides a complete list of everything processed.
Error Import Rows: Highlights only the rows that failed (e.g., due to scheduling conflicts or unrecognized answer options).
If errors exist, download the report in XLS or CSV to fix and re-upload the corrected data.
Use the Previous Imports dropdown to revisit past uploads organized by date.
Mastering the bulk import of both questions and responses allows you to scale your event registration without increasing manual workload. Whether you are building an extensive form for a first-time event or migrating thousands of session selections from an external source, following these structured CSV steps ensures your database remains accurate and professional. Consistently checking your import summaries will help you catch data mismatches early, guaranteeing a smooth experience for your attendees on event day.
