Create and manage Sub-Templates

Introduction

Sub-Templates are reusable email components tied to a specific Template Type. They allow for advanced targeting using filters and are especially useful in multi-audience communications. Admin Users can create Sub-Template Types under developer-defined Categories, and then build Sub-Templates to send personalized messages to specific recipient groups.


What can I do on the Sub-Templates page?

Create reusable email segments within Template Types

From the Sub-Templates page, you can:

  • Add Sub-Template Types

  • Create Sub-Templates

  • Edit Sub-Templates

  • Set Sub-Template display order

  • Delete Sub-Templates


How do I add a Sub-Template Type?

  1. Go to Event Setup > General > Content > Sub-Templates or look for Sub-Templates in the search bar

  2. Scroll to the desired Category

  3. Click the Add Icon in the category header

  4. Fill in the required:

    • Name: Enter a name for the Sub-Template Type

  5. Click Save


How do I create a Sub-Template?

Build targeted email content blocks

  1. Scroll to the desired Template Type within a Category

  2. Click the Add Icon in the corresponding Sub-Template section

  3. In the Details section:

    • Template Name: Name of the Sub-Template

    • Description: Admin-only purpose note

  4. In the Filters section:

    • Set filter criteria to define recipient targeting (optional)

  5. In the CSS & JavaScript section:

    • Click Add Icon and select files to apply

  6. In the Template section:

    • Design content using the editor

    • Insert Template Fields as needed (e.g., {FirstName})

    • To add links:

      • Right-click > Insert/edit link

      • Add URL, Target, Title, etc.

    • Avoid pasting non-standard characters from word processors

  7. Click Save (content is required)


How do I edit a Sub-Template?

  1. Go to Event Setup > Sub Template

  2. Click on the Edit Icon located on the left of the Template name.

  3. The Edit Sub-template screen will appear. Make changes accordingly and click Save. For more information on fields, see above section Add a Sub-template.


How do I set the display order?

  1. From the Sub-Templates List screen, hover over a name

  2. Drag and drop into the desired order

  3. The new order saves automatically


How do I delete a Sub-Template?

  1. Click the Delete Icon next to the Sub-Template name

  2. Confirm deletion in the popup dialog

Sent messages will still appear under each recipient’s Email tab, even after deletion.


Sub-Templates offer precision and personalization when communicating with attendees. By organizing them under Template Types and applying filters, you can build flexible email content strategies that adapt to different event needs and audience segments. Sub-Templates help ensure your messages reach the right people with the right content.
